CASA LCS39 (SPAIN) Casa LCS39, Spain
CASA LCS39 (SPAIN)
Complete renovation of an apartment located in a Rationalist building from 1950 designed by Agapito del Valle.
The Casa LCS39 project was conceived as a full refurbishment aimed at renewing the spaces while preserving the original identity of the building. The new interiors are spacious and filled with natural light, enhanced by a careful selection of materials and finishes consistent with the architectural language of the period.
A significant feature is the reintroduction of fluted glass, typical of the 1950s: its textured surface diffuses light while ensuring privacy, which is why it was used for the bathrooms’ sliding doors. Another distinctive element is the tall skirting board, a contemporary reinterpretation of a traditional plinth; together with the base blocks and door frames, it was custom-designed and crafted.
The kitchen, conceived as an open space, becomes the connection between the living and sleeping areas. As a highly visible and frequently used environment, it was designed to convey warmth and comfort. The checkerboard floor adds character and freshness, reinterpreting a classic pattern as an integrating element of the project.
Lighting and colour palette further contribute to creating a warm, domestic atmosphere not always associated with a conventional kitchen.
The bathrooms, on the other hand, feature traditional ceramics, reinterpreted in a contemporary key through the colour and aesthetic softness of the 10×10 cm tiles from Micro’s Microtiles collection. The two rooms dialogue with each other through material and chromatic continuity.Project: diriondostudio
