After a year to remember, in which each of us was called upon to confront difficulties, doubts and uncertainties, to inaugurate 2021 the Pantone Color Institute has chosen to treasure the past and at the same time open a glimmer of light on the future.

The time has come. Just two days away from celebrating the desired entry of 2021 and leaving behind an “unexpected” 2020, we leave you with the first of our two traditional macro summaries: The product design that left us 2020. The post includes most of the products we have published this year, almost 160 images of furniture, lighting, accessories, kitchens… with which to turn any interior into a space, without a doubt, much better.

Style, innovation, sustainability: three strong contemporary values that increasingly speak the language of ceramics, thanks to the commitment of Terratinta Group, an Italian company based in Fiorano Modenese that has quickly become a point of reference on the market for indoor and outdoor porcelain tiles. The constant interest in research and development of new solutions for aesthetic beauty and functional performance has been combined for years with attention to the context in which production takes place, focusing on respect for the environment and the individual and social well-being of people. We talked about the complexity of this rare and ambitious project with Luca Migliorini, CEO of Terratinta Group and an enthusiastic ambassador of the Group’s identity. Here is what he told us.

Another step on the road to sustainability, another landmark in the path of innovation. Adding to the approximately 300 Italian companies that from 2016 to date have modified their statutes with a view to respecting the environment, today Terratinta Group has also become a Benefit Company, for which Italy was the first European country to adopt specific legislation in 2016.

When we’ll throw the masks, we hope soon, we will be changed. Too many things intervened in a short time cannot leave us unresponsive. We will see with different eyes the house, that before was only night work and today is everything: office, school, gym. We will focus on basic needs such as health and well-being. We will experience a concept of luxury linked to the time to spend rather than the possession of things. We will more be and less have, and even that need to have will be different.
Design is project and now the big bet concerns the ability of our companies and our designers to grab the recovery with new content and products. That will have to be sustainable, because the consumer looks not only at the products but also at the company behind them, at how they make them.
